Background
The development of the West Cumbria Spatial Masterplan was initiated by Central Government and is being coordinated by Cumbria Vision and the West Cumbria Strategic Forum. The Masterplan will set an ambitious agenda for the region to enable it to respond to the challenges facing the area.
We Want Your Views
What would you like to see for West Cumbria? We urge you to submit your views on the future.
We are still developing the Masterplan and your views are essential to its development. Your involvement is crucial to its success.
As part of producing the masterplan for West Cumbria, we will examine where projects should be located in order to maximise benefits for the whole of West Cumbria. Local communities must be proactive in saying what they want to see for their local area.

Competition for Schools
Young people are West Cumbria's future and a competition for school children is being held to get the views of young people in the region.
There will be an essay competition for secondary school children in West Cumbria and a picture competition for primary school children in West Cumbria. The winner of each competition will win a trip to the ITV Border studio where they will see the News programme broadcast and will have their prize presented on air. The primary and secondary school of each prize winner will each receive £250.
The due date for entries has been extended to 15 January 2007. Entries must be sent to West Cumbria Master Plan, Cumbria Vision, 27 Lowther Street, Whitehaven, Cumbria CA28 7DN. Competition details have been sent to headteachers.
